TS-VIRTUAL-DEV is a VirtualBox virtual machine image (.vdi) based on the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Linux distribution which was created to give Technologic Systems customers another development tool for working with the TS products. Keep in mind that this is not an officially supported package and is only provided in hopes that it will be useful. There is no warranty or guarantee. VirtualBox was chosen because it's very easy to use, cross platform compatible, and free. There may be ways of converting a VirtualBox vdi image to one that can be used with the other popular VMWare virtualization product. * REQUIRES VirtualBox 3.2.0 r61806 or later to be installed and running!! * To begin you will need to extract the file: bunzip2 ts-virtual-dev.vdi.bz2 Then, you will need to download and install VirtualBox from the main VirtualBox webpage at: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads Finally, see the following guide for setting up TS-VIRTUAL-DEV: ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/misc/virtualbox/ts-virtual-dev/ts-virtual-dev-setup.html To login, use: UN: ts-user PW: ts-user Other notes: * VirtualBox Guest Additions has been installed, enabling features like seamless windows, bidirectional clipboard, auto-resize guest display, mouse integration, etc. * There are several usage examples included in the folder titled "Technologic Systems" including commonly used commands as well as documentation for what was installed and why. * Familiarize yourself with terminology used when referring to virtual machines: http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01.html#id2870119 * This virtual machine mimics a typical Linux development environment for a Technologic Systems employee (we get asked that question a lot, so here's the answer). * This virtual machine also includes all kernel sources for all boards as well as all cross compiler toolchains that one would need. It also contains all of the busybox sources, an example helloworld.c program, and a GTK demo app. --------------- Derek Hildreth May 24, 2010
